Glasgow is and will forever be my home.  I may be biased, but I think it’s the best city in the world :)  So why don’t I actually live here?!  Well, that’s an easy answer - the weather!  If you have ever spent any time in Scotland or other parts of the United Kingdom, you will soon learn that summers consist of about 2 weeks of sunshine and temperatures in the high teens (celsius).  There is no need for air conditioning because there is no danger of the temperatures getting that high!

Even though I grew up in Glasgow, there are a few things that I can never get used to when I come home to visit.  The weirdest thing to me is the long summer days versus the short winter days.  In summer it’s still daylight outside at 10 pm and the sun rises around 4 am, but in the winter there are only about 6-8 hours of daylight.  So, I usually tell people, if you're going to visit make sure you go in summer, because even though there is no guarantee of good weather or sunshine, at least there is a chance and it won’t be dark all day

My favourite thing about Scotland is that you really do have the best of everything at your fingertips.  Glasgow and Edinburgh (the capital city) are just a short distance apart and you can easily get from one to the other by train, bus or car - although I recommend train or bus since parking in the city is a nightmare.  It’s also a very short distance before you are in the country experiencing some of the most beautiful sights in the world.  On this trip we visited Puck’s Glen, (make sure you really annunciate the ‘P’ here!) a gorge walk close to Dunoon.  We also climbed Ben A’an, which is a great climb in the heart of the Trossachs National Park with a gorgeous view of Loch Katrin from the top.  There is so much to do and see in the country, every time I am home my to do list never seems to get any shorter!

The most important thing for us, when we come to Glasgow, is to spend time with family and friends - if we can rope them into joining us on an adventure even better!  It’s always a pleasure to see everyone and never a dull moment.  Thank you so much for the endless cups of tea, laughs and memories made.  We love you all - until next time xxxx
